Kitchen Music Studios: info@kitchenmusicstudios.com, (416) 465-6618.

Enrolment at Kitchen Music Studios assumes compliance with our policies listed below. Please read this policy page in full and acknowledge your compliance by submitting this form so that we can confirm your enrolment.

Individual Lessons

Individual “Private” Lessons are a weekly commitment from the period that begins the week of September 9th, 2024 and continues through to June 14th, 2025 inclusive (aka our Studio Year).

Group Programs

Group program timelines may vary from program to program. Group fees are set at a flat rate for each Studio Year (Sept to June) and are due upon enrolment (for full-year programs, instalment payments are available). Please visit our Groups and Classes page for details on each program.

Online and In-person Lessons

Both online and in-person lessons are offered by the studio. In the event that in-person lessons are not feasible due to Covid restrictions or any other reason, Kitchen Music Studios reserves the right to move lessons to an online platform to ensure the health and safety of the teachers, students, their families and the administrative team.

For in-person students who are unable to receive an online lesson: please contact the studio for your options. If you have any questions about the online lesson format please contact the admin office at info@kitchenmusicstudios.com.

Attendance

Individual (private, one-on-one) Lessons

We require a minimum of 48 hours notice by email for any cancellation or unfortunately the lesson must be considered forfeited. More than 48 hours’ notice is definitely preferred.

Group programs and Semi-private (2-student) lessons

Group and semi-private lessons missed by students cannot be made up.

Lateness

If a student is 15 minutes late or more, the teacher is not obligated to to wait for the student. If you expect to be late for your lesson, please contact the studio as soon as you can so the instructor can be informed. Lessons cannot be extended past their originally scheduled time.

RESCHEDULING / Make-up Lessons

Missing a lesson

You are not simply paying for a music lesson. You are also paying to secure a regular time in your teacher's schedule whether you attend or not.

However, a limited number of lessons are eligible for rescheduling during the Studio Year. A maximum of 3 canceled lessons can be rescheduled within the Studio Year (Sept-June) within the availability of your teacher. We can work with you to find another lesson time for eligible (48hrs' notice) canceled lessons with your primary instructor, or if needed, another KMS instructor. If these canceled lessons are not rescheduled by the end of the Studio Year, they are forfeited by you. Please request a make up lesson as soon as possible upon cancelling a lesson for best results. Make up lessons are not guaranteed, but we will do our best to assist you.

Lessons that have been rescheduled, and then missed, are not eligible for another make-up lesson.

Due to the year-end increase in demand, private lessons that are canceled after May 16th cannot be guaranteed a make-up lesson before the year end.

The option to move your lesson ONLINE

Sometimes you’re stuck at home with a sick kid. You have a school event to attend. You’re out of town. Maybe there’s a snowstorm on the way. Whatever the scheduling conflict, switching your in-person lesson to an online lesson is a convenient alternative to forfeiting your lesson and keeping you on track.

Stay at home and keep your lesson by connecting with your Kitchen Music teacher via Zoom from the safety and comfort of your own home at your designated lesson time. Reasonable advance notice is needed for the teacher to prepare to switch to the online format for you.

Rescheduling your missed lesson with another instructor

Make-up lessons may also be scheduled with a Kitchen Music Instructor other than your primary instructor. Experience has shown that occasional exposure to a different teacher is often beneficial to a child, and indeed to music students of all ages. Kitchen Music Studios reserves the right to provide an alternate instructor while a student's primary instructor is ill or away. Instructors at our school work hard to minimize such absences. When a teacher’s absence cannot be avoided, an alternate teacher may be provided as approved by the Director.

Instructor Cancellations

Though our instructors do work hard to minimize any absences, it is not always possible. The Studio reserves the right to provide another instructor for you if your primary instructor is ill or away, to keep your progress running smoothly and on track.

If a teacher cannot be secured in time, the lesson will be considered an Instructor Cancellation. Students will be contacted by email and the Studio will have your lesson rescheduled. If no reschedule is possible before the studio year end, instructor cancellations will be credited to your account for future use or refunded.

Discontinuing your Enrolment: 4 weeks' notice required

We aim to provide enjoyable and engaging music lessons here in our little community that you and your family will love. We highly recommend following through on your commitment for the year’s lessons to receive all the benefits it can bring you, and will work with you to support this. But if something arises and you really need to discontinue your lessons, you can. We just require 4 weeks notice. Send us an email four weeks before your final lesson day–you will be billed for the four weeks following your notice to us. All outstanding lessons would need to happen before the end of this last 4-week period or they will be forfeited.

If you cannot use your final lessons yourself, consider sharing them as a gift of music with a friend or family member.

Holidays

There are a number of holidays throughout the year when lessons are not scheduled. Holidays are omitted from your schedule in advance, when your lessons are initially booked. You are not charged a lesson fee for these holidays when the studio is closed. You can find the list of studio holidays HERE.

Photo/Video recording of Kitchen Music students and activities

We are so proud of our students and their progress! From time to time, Kitchen Music Studios records and photographs our students’ activities to promote the studio. This material is used for our website, social media, newsletter, and print marketing materials. By enrolling at Kitchen Music Studios and/or participating in student activities coordinated by Kitchen Music Studios, you automatically consent to the above. If you do not want to consent to the above, you may opt out by sending an email to the studio expressing your wish to opt out.

Registration and Deposit

There is a $50 non-refundable annual registration fee for every registered family (i.e. if you have two or more family members registered, the fee is still just $50 in total. Hooray!). The registration fee contributes to the cost of paperwork and computer processing, account management & billing services, and general studio communication, which are all required in the set up, support and maintenance of a student’s learning experience for the year.

Deposit: There is a required $100 non-refundable deposit upon enrolment for each student to secure their spot for the Studio Year in advance. The deposit will be applied to your Lesson Fee for the Studio Year once student payment arrangements are confirmed.

Enrolment and Payment Options

When students are registered in our Studio Year, they are entitled to participate in up to 37 lesson weeks within the Studio Year (September to June). Fees are prorated for those who enrol mid-season, as well as those whose regular lesson days are in conflict with our scheduled holidays. Lessons are generally booked in a designated weekly time slot and reserved for you for the year at the time of booking.
